1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and handle your information when you use our AI summarizer and insight extraction service ("Service"). The Grasp for Mac section below explains the desktop app's local processing, cloud answers and account sync.

Reading text on your Mac
Accessibility access lets Grasp read a selected word or text near your pointer. Screen Recording access lets it capture a region for text recognition when an app does not expose its text. Screenshot pixels and OCR processing stay on your Mac. Grasp does not capture microphone or system audio.
Cloud AI answers
Cloud lookups send the selected or recognized text, surrounding sentence, source and target languages, and any Deeper question and conversation context to grasp.info. Our server passes this content through its Dify service to the configured third-party AI model providers to produce an answer. An account-scoped identifier associates requests with the same conversation; lookup text can contain personal information from the app you are reading.
On-device only mode uses the local dictionary and downloaded Apple Translation packs without sending lookup text for a cloud answer. Account sign-in and saved-term sync are separate network features. Changing to local lookup mode does not delete content already sent to the cloud.
Account, saved terms and usage
- Your account name, email and account identifier connect this Mac to your existing Grasp account. A device identifier, device name, platform and app version identify the connected device. Its login credential is stored in the macOS Keychain.
- While signed in, saved terms, meanings, context, notes, tags and available source app, page title and URL information sync with your account. Words saved before signing in remain local.
- The History list and review timing stay on the device. This does not mean cloud query text is never processed or retained: AI requests and conversations are processed separately by the cloud services described above.
- Account and device identifiers, request time and type, character and token counts, request outcome, response timing, model cost, upstream message identifier and IP address support quota enforcement, service operation and abuse prevention.
Signing out or revoking a device stops that device from using its current login credential. It does not delete your account or previously synced data. For data access, correction or deletion requests, contact [email protected].

11. Free vs. Premium Users
Both free and premium users receive the same level of data protection and privacy rights. Premium users' payment information receives additional encryption and security measures.
